Renewal of the collaboration with Salut Mental Catalunya (SMC)
- With the aim of improving the mental health of children and adolescents, it will continue the training project for professionals and family members who accompany minors at social risk.
From Probitas Foundation, as part of our commitment to improve the mental health of vulnerable groups, we have renewed the collaboration agreement with Salut Mental Catalunya (SMC) for the next two years. In this way, SMC will be able to continue the training project for family members and professionals not specialized in mental health, such as social workers, educators, teachers, or other service professionals of the community network, who work with minors at social risk.
The mental health of children and adolescents has become one of the main public health challenges worldwide, being especially aggravated by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, in 2019 from the foundation we began our relationship with SMC, allowing, in addition to promoting the training program, to jointly elaborate and edit 4 guides to accompany children, adolescents and young people who contemplate isolation, self-harm, situations of tension and conflict and the mental health network. The guides are committed to a relational and systemic approach that includes the different perspectives and needs of all the multidisciplinary professionals involved.
Dr. Anna Veiga, general director of Probitas Foundation highlights that "it is very important that both professionals and family members who are in contact with minors with mental health problems are properly trained to be able to offer them better accompaniment and facilitate their recovery process. With this collaboration we hope to continue offering training resources to professionals who accompany minors, providing them with the tools, resources and guidance in child and adolescent Mental Health necessary to prevent and know how to face complex situations of minors". "In this last year, the Government of Catalonia and the Provincial Council of Tarragona have also given their support to the initiative, something that demonstrates its relevance and the need to join efforts in this matter," adds Veiga.
