Another situation that has been worsened due to the economic crisis is the lack of food security during childhood and adolescence through school holiday periods. The school meal service guarantees at least one daily meal to vulnerable children during the school year, but the problem is that this aid is not been extended during the summer holidays. Outside the school year, the subsidized summer camps at the administration partially cover this lack, because, usually, it only works in July and not always guarantees the access to everyone. The aids to guarantee the equality access to educational cycle aren't enough in July and are clearly deficient in August, month without a summer program offer.
The RAI-Summer program wants to offer access to summer camps during the months of July and August for children and adolescents in vulnerability ensuring healthy food and a protection space where performing socio-educational activities, sports and leisure during school holidays.
- Collaborative programs: it supports social organizations and non-profit organizations in its summer camps offering to increase the number of beneficiaries, ensure meals or other activities such as day trips, summer camps and day camps in the month of July.
- Own Programs: during the month of August new socio-educational spaces (own by the Foundation) are developed in order to provide facilities by the municipalities.
